Dr. Dothlyn E. Sterling, PhD

President of CACANA

 

​Dr. Dothlyn Sterling is a Jamaican born business owner, writer and currently the president of the Caribbean American Cultural Association of North America, Inc. (CACANA), a non-profit organization offering various forms of assistance to Caribbean communities in the United States and Canada.

 

Her work is dedicated to several focus areas, including the development  of a dialysis center in Montego Bay, Jamaica for the  benefit of a large segment of those with limited means; the cultivation of a consumer advocacy group committed to providing real estate assistance to those in need; and CACANA fundraising initiatives and member engagement programs. She has a strong background in real estate, management and community service which is showcased throughout her various projects. Dothlyn has led numerous church based outreach programs and has recently been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for GR3 International, a relief organization assisting in all aspects of disaster relief and preparedness.

 

With significant leadership experience, she is a former Leave Officer in Charge at Cornwall Regional Hospital Montego Bay and fulfilled the same function for two other hospitals. After immigrating to the United States in 1986 she co-launched a professional home care business that catered to the elderly in the tri-state area. In this capacity she provided employment opportunities for many while addressing the needs of countless retirees.

 

As a writer, lecturer and motivational speaker, Dothlyn is currently developing two poetry volumes for publication. She holds a Doctorate in Theology from the International Theological Seminary in California and currently resides in Long Island, New York. 

 

Dr. Sterling is a native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and an extraordinary poet and humanitarian, who has written and orally expressed countless poems in various venues and parts of the World. Her authentic

style appeals to the perceived realities felt by people from all walks of life. Moreover, as a subject matter expert, she remains continuously engaged in many non-profit missions, particularly in disaster relief missions similar to the ones that occurred in Haiti and the Philipines. She is very well-versed with non-profit matters and is also an accomplished entrepreneur in a diversified number of fields.
